Hi!
I'm kinda new here, please treat me nicely :)

I have this cheap headphones for over a year now. It still works perfectly before I tried using a usb 7.1 sound card adapter to my laptop. My headphones has a TRRS jack. I mainly use the headphones for listening to music on my android phone. But today I tried to use it for gaming on my laptop. My laptop only has an audio in, and no mic in. So I bought the usb sound card that I mentioned earlier and also a splitter. I plugged my headphone to the splitter and the splitter to their corresponding jacks on the usb sound card. And it works perfectly fine, the sounds work and the mic also works. Then I tested a few games (csgo, dirty bomb, and paladins) to make sure the mic really does work. And yes, other players hear me. So the mic really does work with the usb sound card. And now after I'm done playing, I turned off my laptop and then unplugged the usb sound card and the jacks attached into it. Used my headphones again on my android phone to watch some youtube videos, and now the sound coming from the headphones is a bit muffled. The voices on the videos are too low but the background music is a bit fine but sometimes distorted.

Then I got back to my laptop to test the headphone if it was just my phone or not. I plugged it in the audio jack (not using the usb sound card), and the sound is also the same like on my phone. I then tried again using the usb sound card, and then the sound is normal. I tried again without using the splitter (I plugged in only the headphone jack to the usb sound card) and yes it still sounds normal.

I guess the usb sound card changed something to my headphones.

I also checked the drivers, but no luck. The problem still occurs.

I hope someone helps me with my problem.

P.S My english is a bit bad, sorry 'bout that. :)

With all due respect, the sound card cannot physically change the headphones you're working with. Rather it's possible that your perception of sound has changed since you got onto the USB driven setup.

Is it possible to pass on your headset's make and model as well as the USB sound card?

Thanks for the reply. My headphones is an Audley Power Jam headphones. You might not know the brand because its just some cheap generic headphones xD. And for the USB soundcard, I am sorry but it is also a generic device that doesn't have any branding to it, even the package is just a sealed plastic without any brand to it too.

And also, I think my hearing didn't change. I only got this usb sound card today. And faced this problem after using the sound card. 🙁
