Question Headphone splitter makes sound quality worse?

I have a Sennheiser PC38X and in the package there was a 3.5mm cable which I can connect to the front of my PC. And a splitter which I can connect to the back of my PC.
But the splitter sounds significantly worse than the 3.5mm connection.
Is there a fix to this? Am I missing something? I've always heard the splitter is supposed to work better than the 3.5mm.

Have you tried plugging the standard 3.5 cable directly into the back of the PC without the splitter?
All the splitter does is bridge the pink (microphone) and green (audio) ports.
If the audio quality improves, buy a new cable.
If it dosent, then its your onboard audio at fault.

I have not tried that no, have not seen there is a port for 3,5mm in the back. And feels like the cable included should be high enough quality for the headphones. But thanks for the advice
