Headphones are't working

I have Turtle Beach x12 headphones which i've had for a few years. I hadn't played my pc in a couple months and when I went on the sound cut out after a few minutes and hasn't come back on in weeks. I don't have speakers, so I'm basically screwed. I'm like 75% sure it's a problem with the headphones and not the computer, but before I buy a new pair I just want to see if there is something I can do on the computer to be sure.

There may be two problems involved
1. The spot where the headphones are plugged in is damaged, and you will have to fix your pc
2. The headphone thingy that plugs into the spot is damaged, and you have to buy another pair of headphones

Check for any updates on the headphones then restart your pc, thats how i fixed mine
