Headphones Do not Work

Help! URGENT. So I got a brand new pc I plug in my headphones only audio works the mic doesn't work or the opposite.

What socket are you plugging them into? On pc’s the 3.5mm sockets usually have headphone out and mic input on separate sockets. If you want to use headphones and a mic usually used on a phone you will need an adapter that plugs into the headphone out and mic inputs.

Oh Ok Thanks I am total noob in pcs. Can you tell me about a good headset and mic for cheap like under 20$ that would work with the pc.
Oh and would a usb mic and headset work?

For $20 use your phone headphones but buy an adapter like the one in the link.

We all had to start learning at sometime and are always learning new things about pc’s.
