Hello,

I've never actually used headphones for gaming but decided to give it a go. Couple of questions though if someone has time and patience :) .
I will exclusively use them for singleplayer (Hitman, Skyrim, RDR2 etc)

1. Wired or Wireless?
(I would prefer wireless but If it's of noticable quality difference then wired.)

2. Active or Passive noise cancellation?
( It's very important for me to block noise coming from PSU or other fans when on full load. Then again, I've never used ANC and hear some have issues with headache and general discomfort. and don't know if I really need that much noise cancelling or passive is enough for gaming in my room)

3. Do I need sound card or DAC? If so, sound card OR DAC? (what' the quality difference comparing to having only motherboard sound)

4. Do I need some kind of separate bought bluetooth reciever If I go for wireless? Or some other device.

5. If I go for ANC, can I turn it off If I find it uncomfortable?

6. I need headphones that are comfortable to wear while having glasses on?

7. Price range- something that costs like Bose QC 35 II. In fact, these headphones seem ok dor my needs, then again, I would like to hear from someone who is more familiar with this.

Thanks in advance

I use an exiberia 7.1 headset that is plugged into a usb socket , if you get these the plug is a tight fit so i use a short usb to the pc and plug the headset into it to cut down the risk of damaging the sub socket on the pc. They are very powerful so i put the volume of my main sound settings to 50% because without doing this the headset will deafen you on level 3 setting to 50% on main sound output makes the headset more flexible. They are also what is known as openback so even when using them you will still be able to hear somebody who wants to talk to you. This mean no slap around the head followed by ........ hey i am talking to you LOL

Note Regardless of what you go for you must make sure you get them set properly in the windows sound tabs or when you plug them in they will not cancel the speakers out for them to work.

btw i wear glasses and they are not a problem

I have the Corsair Virtuoso RGB XE and Bose QC35II Gaming headphones. I actually prefer the Bose on a daily use. They are far lighter, and more comfortable. Plus, the ANC does a great job of keeping out background noise. The only downside of the Bose is that you must be plugged into the desktop module in order to use the mic. If chat isn't important, the Bluetooth works wonderfully. I also use them connected to my PS5 through the controller and again, they work great!

The Corsair definitely have the advantage in sound quality and convenience. It bests the Bose in sound quality in every way. The bass, treble and spaciousness is a noticeable improvement over the Bose, but only noticeable when swapping back and forth. The fully wireless with mic is cool, but it uses a USB dongle to achieve this. The cons are battery life and weight. The headphones are heavy and the battery will need to be charged after a couple short gaming sessions or online meetings. The Bose seem to last forever.

Regarding the wired vs. wireless debate that's a personal choice. Wireless sound quality has come a long way over the past few years.

I got the Corsair for $250 and then the Bose came on sale for $200 a few months later. If I could return the Corsair, I would.

Trade off. As you don’t need a mic as it’s for single player games you will get better sound quality for X budget from non gaming headsets. However wireless non gaming headsets usually have high latency so not ideal for games. The key question I think is what is the budget?
