I'm using the 3.5M Audio jack through my PC and it constantly detects and re-detects when I plug in my headphones. It has been doing this for a while. As far as I am aware, the physical audio jack isn't broken.
Here's something I see all the time. The conductor is broken inside the headphone cable and you can't see that it's broken because it's inside the insulation.
