headphones - sound works but the mic doesnt

i have headphones jbl T110 that work completly okay on my phone (the sound works, the microphone is working), but when i plug them into my laptop it wouldnt recognize them at all. like i can hear the sound through them but my mic isnt working (its still set on my laptops mic). plus it doesnt even detect the headphones and the mic

Have you right clicked the sound icon, gone to recording devices, and set your headphones microphone as your default device?

it doesnt even detect the mic from the headphones and they for sure have a mic. theres just my laptops mic
