How do I get my headphones to work. I have them plugged into the rear of my
computer. I get sound from them but also from my speakers in my monitor. I
would like the headphones to work without the speakers in my monitor.

Thanks in advance,
Alice

When you plug your headphones into the headphone socket the 'plug' should
actually switch off the pc speakers. If it isn't switching the pc speakers
off there may be a fault either with your headphone plug (jack) or the
actual connection on the audio board. Either way you could do with a
technician from your local pc store taking a look at it. I think you will
find that your problem is hardware related rather than software.

Some Creative Labs cards have the option of turning off the speakers when
you plug the headphones in.

Alice just a few extra thoughts. You might like to check that the headphone
jack is pushed fully home. If it isn't then the 'speaker off' connection
isn't closed and feedback will occur.
Do you have a headphone socket ont he front of your machine as well as the
back? I ask because mine hads one on the front and back. The front one works
ok but the back one has been setup to accept extra speakers by the
manufacturer. It might be worth also visitng your pc manufacturer's web site
to check if this is the case. They may also have a FAQ (frequently asked
questions) section on the pc manufacturer's web site. Check that to see if
the problem has been recorded.

Thanks all,
I do have the headphone jack pushed all the way in and no I don't have a
headphone jack on the front of my computer. I think it is an option that I
don't have. I do have a Creative SB card. How would I check if the setting
for turning off the speakers when
you plug the headphones in is enabled?
Thanks for your time,
Alice
By the way....My computer is a Scaleo800S by FujitsuSiemens if that helps
at all.
