im looking for a pair of headphones that are good quality $300-400 canadian. dont want a mic on it. must have a 1/4" jack not a adapter, must be native 1/4". i have a focusrite scarlett solo and a mackie mix 5 can i can run good quality headphones from. it will be used for gaming but i already have a shure super 55 deluxe mic which i love so i dont need a mic.

Can you quickly tell me how much 400 Canada in US dollar? Are you in a music studio if so you would want a flat sounding HP open back and Sennheiser is the best at this period. When you tell me how much you can spend in US dollar I will recommend you a HP. Also do you care for stereo or 7.1 which is your preference? Again I don't know if your in a studio or your just a audiophile? Hit me back up my friend.👽💯🎗🤷‍♀️

lol its for gaming. im looking for something that is comfortable i used to have the audio technica bps-h1 which has a mic but they were uncomfortable because of sweating.
400$ canadian is about 300 usd

There's no sound quality difference with a screw on adapter. Really? Maybe they're available somewhere else cheaper? They're less than $300 US on Amazon and they go on sale. You won't find better gaming headphones. I've owned every headphone worth owning under $1000 and they're the best for gaming and they hold up against anything else for music as well. Comfort is also 10/10.

The Sennheiser HD599 is close for gaming. It's a step down though and prices, at least here in the US are inflated and have been all year due to Covid. They MAY go on sale for Amazon Prime day. They've been as low as $99 last year. At $150 or less the 599 is a great deal. They're $200 right now though and I wouldn't pay that. The K712 Pro is better in every way.

yea thats about the pricing im looking for those sennheiser are 279-329 in canada depending on color. the 799 k712 pro is just way out of price range considering it will only be for gaming about 1-2 hours a week of headphone gaming

I'd bet that prices are just inflated due to the virus. There are still supply disruptions. Check on Prime day and see if either go on sale. The K712 Pro is worth every bit of $400 CAD / $300 US. They were $499 US for years. I think I got mine on sale for about $275. They've just about completely replaced my 10 year old HD598s ( the 599 is an updated 598 ) as daily drivers / gaming headphones. They also work with any genre of music.

The HD599s are a deal at $150 US and a must buy at $99 US.

yea im not looking to buy right away more pre planning. the issue with comparing US pricing to CAD pricing it doesnt transfer into final actual costs. i know when someone says a $1000 pc in the US thats about 2500-3000 here

those k712 pro ship from UK so you have duties and taxes to account for which will be alot also its not amazon thats actually selling it its a 3rd party seller. Camelcamelcamel has horrible reviews for service it doesnt account for duties and taxes or shipping.

this is the first reputable retailer i can see. which puts it at 799.99 i will keep a eye out though i do like them

Heck, this post convinced me to look into them as well. The only thing I'm unsure of: Do you have an amplifier? Or one of those little boxes, and then a connection from the box to your PC?
I never owned studio headphones so I'm not sure if they just plug straight into the mother board. I've seen some that do depending on if your mobo has support for it, I just don't know what that option is called in mobo specs.
This is my mother board:

Could I just plug the K712 pro right into it, or do I need some other piece of hardware?

EDIT: I see the receptacle for the headphone cable now, epic. BUT! Do you personally recommend an amplifier?

that i do not know. i have a scarlett solo for my microphone which also has a headphone jack so im compatible with pretty much everything. both of the headphones the hd599 and the k712 pro have 3.5 mm jacks so in theory you could plug directly into the motherboard headphone jack not sure the quality you would get. maybe some others could answer that @anort3

I didn't see that about shipping. Camelcamelcamel is just a price tracker. Take any Amazon product and paste the url there and you can see the price history.

The HD599s do not need a headphone amp. The K712 Pro despite 'only' having a 64ohm impedance does need an amp of some type. Your Scarlett will be sufficient. As would any newer motherboard with an integrated amp.

The Z390E Gaming has one and Asus does sound very well. They'd be fine with that board.

And yes I have several headphone amps, DACs and amp/DAC combos. As well as a Xonar Essence STX soundcard. :)
Thanks for the recommendation! I think I'll opt for the 712's along with a new Rode microphone, currently running a corsair virtuoso and a blue yeti on a rode boom arm, but I wanna step my game up.
Might frick around and get an amp as well so I can plug my audio stuff all into one thing. Thanks again!

theres many things that could be used as a amp. for instance my focusrite scarlett solo gen 3 has inputs for guitars, microphones, and headphones which all go to the pc. while its not called a "amp" its a audio interface it works as a amp for headphones.

Yeah I've been researching them for the past few hours! I think I'll see how the headphones perform by themselves connected straight out of my mobo, then depending on how they sound/ what my cable management looks like I'll make some changes.
You are gonna have to post pictures of your set up when you finish, you're doing the damn thing haha!

Looks like you can link images via a web link, so I guess your best bet would be imgur or some other free image hosting site. If you're comfortable with that!

The Aune X7S is a class A headphone amplifier. The X1S is an amp and a very well implemented DAC combo. The Mayflower O2/ODAC Rev B is an amp ( the O2 ) and a DAC ( the ODAC ) combo. The Topping D30 ( silver ) is a standalone DAC and the SMSL SP200 is an amplifier only.

And that's current. 😛

Good lord! What's the point?? I'm assuming you produce music and some headphones are better for different applications?
That's.. That's the most owned headphones in one spot I've ever seen haha! And then 4 different amplifiers- What's the benefit of that? Just to leave some amps at different settings so you don't have to change em?
