I am wondering how or what to fix/get in order to choose when I want to use my headphones vs. using speakers. Is there something that I could do? I having trouble finding something that can support my dual input (the mic/sound for the headset).

Solution
Yes you can do that too.

3.5mm STEREO 2 Port Manual Sharing Switch selector $9

Audio Speaker / Headset Switching Hub $12

I'm not a big fan of more external clutter but if you find it more convenient then go for it. The second one would probably be more to what your looking for.
Plugable USB Audio Adapter with 3.5mm Speaker/Headphone and Microphone Jacks $8

SoundSwitch

Plug the Speakers into the Analog jacks or Toslink
Plug the Headphones into the USB adapter

Soundswitch will give you a tray icon to quickly switch between whatever you have.

This is my setup

1. Harmon Kardon 2.1 Set on Analog
1. Studio Monitors and sub through a amp on Toslink
1. Gaming Headset using the Plugable USB adapter
1. High end Headphone using a Plugable USB adapter

Soundswitch gives me a tray icon that allows for quick access with a few clicks between all outputs, you also have the option to setup hotkeys or swap using CTRL + ALT + F11
