Hey guys, so I bought a PDP afterglow wireless headset today. Everything works great except there is this buzzing noise in the background. Cant hear it when I'm playing music but when idle it's annoying.

I connected it through my laptop and there was no noise even through my iphone and it was perfect. Only has this problem with the CPU.

Here is the confusing part, I have a CM Storm trooper case and it has the fan control in the front, so I turned the fans to the highest setting and the buzzing was gone. Even if I go 1 setting down it comes back. What do you guys think the problem is?

If your head set works on radio signals rather than Bluetooth some signals from outside could interfere the head set signal transferring...see whether your mic is on in your sound driver options. though mic is not connected..and try turning off the cpu fans for just seconds to see whether the buzz stops or persists...

I have an afterglow headset and it works great. However, I did also run into the "Buzzing" issue, and it is worse on some PCs than others. I have not yet contacted the manufacturer even after a few years, but I will share my findings.

The actual symptom: The *buzzing* occurs when the USB receiver is plugged into certain types of usb ports. Specifically, it seems at least to be anything connected to a mains power source. It is very noticable when turning the volume up on the headset when no sound is being sent from the audio source.

One solution: Plug the receiver into a USB Battery pack. This produces in my findings ZERO hum/buzz when there should be silence but the volume is up on the receiver. Drawback? No USB input to computer, so you don't get to use the microphone. This is a headphone-only solution.

Note, plugging into a USB power plug produces lots of hum, and different PCBs on different desktops and different power supplies alter the intensity of the buzzing.

Another finding to support the idea that the buzz comes primarily from unfiltered AC power: I plugged into a USB port of a tablet and got zero hum when on battery, more buzzing when the tablet is charging.

Another finding to support that it's a power filtering issue in general: There was a laptop that produced some buzzing when it was unplugged from the wall.

For general sound: plug the receiver into a USB battery pack, use an external microphone as your recording source.
