[SOLVED] Headset for gaming question

Hey so. I hope I post this in the right category.
I have a question about headsets.
I have ordinary over ear headphones (sennheiser hd4.40BT) with a regular 3.5mm audio jack..l
My question being would this be able to pick up souround sound for a game like overwatch where being able to hear where people are is key. If so then I would just get a detached mic such as a blue yeti etc.
If not should I be getting a gaming headset like steelseries arctis 5?

It depends on the game settings and also the Windows drivers for the soundcard.

If both are set to stereo / headset, then you'll probably hear all sound around you, but won't be able to hear if it's coming from behind or front.
