Headset isnt picking up voice

So my elgato HD 60 arrived the other day and after setting up everything I plugged my headset (Turtle Beach x12s) into my computer with all the cords in the right places. I can hear any audio fine through my headset but when I go to record my own voice for videos it isn't picking up the microphone on the headset. however it is picking up my voice through another device. I have no other devices plugged into my computer apart from the legato, and I have disabled all other mics in Sound>Recording. Im using a Aspire z5101 (ACER) and windows 7 if that helps at all.
