[SOLVED] Headset mic not working, but external mic is?

So when I connect my headset into the headphone jack, the mic doesn't work, it shows it, but doesn't use it. When it make it default it doesn't work. Even connecting it into the "mic jack" doesn't work. I have to connect an external mic to voice chat. Please help!

-My mother board is MSI b350 PC mate
-Case is Rosewill nautilus

Did you test the headset with another computer? Is the headset a 4 pole single connection for the wire?

I tried connecting it to another computer and it did work. I don't know what a 4 pole single connection is though.

Headphones can have a single cable with 4 poles on it, or dual cables for mic and the audio which are 3 poles (count the segments on the connector). If it works on another system with the same audio jacks types, then test the mic input on the PC with another mic.
