Sorry if this is the wrong thread, I don't know what the problem is specifically.

I am using a Kotion Each G2000 (2-jack) headset on Windows 10. The sound settings list my microphone as detected, enabled, but it does not detect anything when I talk. The strange part to me is that if I tap on the microphone it detects that. It is only speech that is not detected. The mic is plugged into the mic in jack on the back, so it is directly plugged into the motherboard, not the front panel of the case. I updated the driver for Realtek High Definiton Audio Manager to no avail. I also made sure the headset was not the problem by plugging it into a different PC, and it worked fine. I have also tried multiple other microphones on this PC which also did not work. I do not have a clue what the problem is.

(I just built this computer BTW)
Motherboard: MSI z170A M5
CPU: Intel i5-6400

Solution

probably windows settings interfering with volumes
try this below, pic sshould be easy enough

Right click sound icon bottom right of desktop> playback devices > Properties of your device > Comm tab
make sure to select Do Nothing

Recording tab > right click your mic > properties > crank mic volume sensitivity to 100
make sure mute is not on like mine is

Tried, didn't work unfortunately 🙁

Check mute button on your device, to be sure
Go into control panel> hardware and sound > device manager (beneath devices and printers)
Click VIEW> show hidden devices

Then scroll down to Sound, video and game controllers and UNINSTALL + CHECK BOX DELETE ALL DRIVERS related to your headset (for me, it says Logitech G933 Wireless headset).

Restart WITHOUT device plugged in
reinstall drivers as instructed when you install

If this doesn't work try to finbd latest drivers for your exact device
I'm all out of tricks if this doesn't work. Big reason why I never get off brand sound/mice/keyboard peripherals, they love to do this
