Headset microphone makes me sound like a robot?

Hello. I recently bought a TeckNet HS800 headset and sometimes, during skype calls, it apparently starts to make me "sound like a robot". I have tried re-installing the drivers, changing the USB port it is plugged in, changing from 2 channel 16bit 44000 HZ to 48000 HZ, reducing the mic boost and still it changes my voice. Does anybody have any ideas or is it a defective unit?

Since you said it only happens sometimes, it's quite possible that it's simply a network problem. Skype lags up all the time for me and my friends sound like robots too 😛
