Question Headset microphone will not work

I have the TBI Gaming Pro V8 headset. It works fine on my PS4, but I'm having problems on Skype. It has a USB cable and a single audio cable. However, either I can hear through the headset and the mic doesn't work or I can use the mic but can't hear anything. It's almost like I should have two audio jacks and plug each one into the microphone and headset jacks respectively on the front of my desktop. When I plug in the USB I then plug in the audio cable into the jack with a microphone and the Realtek screen pops up. I can choose either "Mic in" or "headset" (several others as well that don't pertain to the question because I'm not using speakers. I just don't know how to fix the issue.

The headset you have should come with a splitter.

The USB connector is to power the LED's onboard the headset.
