Headset multiple inputs?

Well I have come across an issue and I am looking here for help. I have the plantronics rig headset, a pc and a ps3. The headset comes with a little hub to adjust the volumes and coming out the back of this are the connectors there is a toslink Optical audio input and an analog 3.5mm Jack and USB for microphone.

My question is, can I plug the ps3 into the optical and my pc into the analogue and be able to listen to the pc when the ps3 is off?

Thanks i7Baby I have some other questions too. What would be better to use for Pc gaming the spdif Optical or the analog 3.5 mm Jack.

likely that will work.. provided you have just a pair of headphones and not a "headset" (with mic).

unless you have really bad onboard sound or a really low end soundcard then 3.5mm is fine. if your onboard is crap then optical might be the best choice. however, the ps3 doesnt take 3.5mm.

the difference? on 3.5mm your internal components convert digital to analog and process the signal. on optical electronics in your headphones or in that control convert analog to digital, power the headphones and process the signal.

i would say stick with 3.5mm unless you have issues.
