Headset not working

My headset will not pick up my voice. For some reason, my microphone is showing up in the recording section, but isnt picking up my voice. I know the mic itself works because if i flick the mic area, the green bar goes all the way up. If I just talk, my mic wont pick up my voice. I already tried boosting the decibals but all that does is makes a very loud static noise. In skype, the call could now hear my voice at (+30db)s but just barely over the static. I have no clue at all whats currently going on. My headset currently is a gamecom 318 (my 788 isnt picking up voice either).

If the issue is persistent across all your headphones/audio equipment then the source of the issue is your sound card. Can you please pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your OS and connected peripherals? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your sound card drivers?
