Heart of Evil stuck

Hi Everyone: I am on level D. got the level almost solved, but I need to
detonate the dynamite to blow away the barricade at the top of some steps. I
got to the basement area by taking an elevator down. Down the hall and to
the right is a stairways that are blocked by a barricade. I press the use
button and the three red sticks of dynamite attach to the barricade. The
walkthrough I have been going to says to press the use button again and run.
I have done that but the dynamite won't blow. Help!

Should I get Half-Life 2? The reports I read here are positive, but
apparently lots are having troubles with it. Also, I haven't encountered
Steam yet.

I can't help you with the Heart of evil mod but I haven't had any
trouble with steam, but like you said many people have.
Why don't you download the Half-life 2 demo and try it?
Steam is required to run it , and that would give you some idea
what its like.

If you're where I think you are, I seem to recall that you'll need a
timing device to set off the dynamite. Have you explored the level
thoroughly?--if not, go back and look around for the timer.

Len: Thanks. You are right. I did get the timing device once, but I had to
restart my adventure with a distant save because the game would quit me back
to the desktop if I went down these certain two hallways. I couldn't figure
that out, so I "restarted" , but I need to explore again looking for that
timing device. Thanks. I had forgotten that item. I go get it tonight! I
have really enjoyed this mod.
