Heatsink bolt pattern?

Are the heatsink bolt patterns for the 4790k and a I7 975 the same?

No they aren't. The i7 975 is lga1366 socket type and the 4790k is lga1150 - they're not compatible. The 1366 mounting holes are spaced a little bit wider all the way around. Socket 1155 and 1150 use the same mounting holes.
