i just bought a 2500+ barton core i am currently using the stock fan, i'm actully lost 500 pc marks with it for some reason. i definetly want to overclock and i would like to know what heatsink and fan i should buy my limit $100 can.

ALWAYS AIM LOW SO YOU CAN'T BE DISSAPOINTED

I am using the thermalright SLK-900 with Sunon 92mm fan and artic silver 3 on a AXP 2500+ @ 2GHz and it runs at 36 degrees under load. Not sure about prices in Canada but the SLK-900 is the king of air cooling.Plus it allows you to use a quiet fan.

4.77MHz to 4.0GHz in 10 years. Imagine the space year 2020 :)

usually i would have gotten the slk-900 my friend has it and it works great, but my gigabyte motherboared don't got mounting holes on it

Consider the Spire Falconrock. It's quiet as crap, and allows for some overclocking (not a huge o/c obviously)

It's all good ^_^

There are two different version of the SLK900: one that uses the mounting holes (the U version) and one that uses the socket clips.

I love my Delta 60HP 7000 RPM fan that puts out more dB then CFM 😱

i woudl assume that the loss of 500 pc marks would be something software/driver related.
The cpu is still wokring away at the same speed yes?

My CPU is so powerful its faster than Melb_Angel's Laptop! 😱 (Plus it's not pink)

I run my 2500+ @ 3200+ with Spire Falconrock II and it works just fine, atleast until summer came now i run it @ 2 ghz then full load temp is 52c.

recruit, I'm running my Barton 3000+ @ 2200Ghz, with a Thermaltake 10+ (all copper). Idle temp is 35C, full load is around 42C.

Mind you I have 5 fans for my system too. (32C system temp)

I'm in love my Swiftech MCX462+ with 92mm Tornado.

I hate Computers! I could only overclock my Barton 2500+ to 2580mhz(vcore 1.65). My Radeon 9700pro core/mem speed won't go above 410/720. I really hate computers!

I personally HATES the volcano line up, they say they're really good, but comparing to Swiftech or Thermalright, they're just nothing but pure crap.

not pure crap, not as good as the mcx-462 or the slk-800/900, but the volcano 7+ is much cheaper (only $40 canadian! that's like $29 US if the exchange rate is still 5/7). the variable fan is nice too. the other heatsinks come at like $15-20 more, plus you have to buy a fan
