I recently converted from an Intel Q6600 using a lapped True 120 Ultimate Extreme, to an AMD Phenom II 940 CPU. I don't want to use the TRUE 120 on this CPU because it will orient the airflow towards the side of the case (towards the GPU), instead of out the back exhaust ports/fans. I see many coolers for the Socket AMII CPU but cannot see the orientation after mounting on the instruction manuals. I am pretty hard over about having it exhaust out the back, but if I am wrong, please feel free to correct me. Anyone have any suggestions for a good cooler for this CPU? I am only a moderate overclocker. I ran my Q6600 at 3.4, and that is what I want on this 940. With stock cooling, the CPU is currently running at 45 degrees C stock at idle. Can't live with that. My case is an Antec 900 with all installed stock fans. The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P. Memory is standard Mushkin DDR2 800 4 gb x 1. Would appreciate any suggestions for a good cooler from someone overclocking this CPU. Thanks.

Just about any 92mm/120mm fan would provide enough cooling power to reach the middle/upper limits of the 940's OCing ability...3.8-3.9GHz. Air would cause the temps to be a a little hot and uncomftorable any higher. Watercooling would be needed. I use a Socket 939 92 mm stock AMD FX55 cooler on my 940. I have no heat issue at 3.6GHz. At 3.7GHz-3.8GHz. I have to turn the 92mm fan all the way up as well as the controller switches for my 4 case fans. I have this new Tuniq Tower 120 sitting here, but my build is a micro and I can not install it. The 45nm PII 940 is a lot different than a 65nm Q6600 where OCing is concerned. Unlike the Q6600, set the CPU multiplier to the desired speed and adjust the voltages upward and your at 3-6-3.8GHz.
