Does anyone know how heatsinks are measured? (As in from the feet to the highest part or from the CPU base to the top of the heatsink)

Reason for this I have a very tight squeeze case and need a new heatsink + Fan for my Intel quad core, I have a Asus Striker Extreme motherboard in a THermaltake VF7001BNS case and I am very tight for space and it needs to be silent as it is a media PC.
I have 13cm from the cpu to the top of the case so bearing in mind alot of heatsink are 12.5cm>+ so depending how heatsinks are measured I might have more or less space ...... :heink:

I have included some pics too show how tight i am for space, bare in mind that top bar can be removed, its a strengthening bar for the case but that should not be a problem.

Any help would be great!

Thanks, :)
Andy

If you want silence and space you could always get one of the water cooling kits say Swiftech H20 120 compact kit.

Will be close to high end air and quiet, a bit more costly though.

Ok, thanks guys, after lots of searching I have bought a thermaltake typhoon should fit fingers crossed. :)
