Hello PC community, recently my heatsink for my computer has had some problems, the little plastic clips have been dis-positioned and it refuses to click back onto my quad-core. I'm using a socket 775 motherboard, and want a replacement heatsink but don't want to be overcharged by the liked of pc world, so my question is: Can you suggest a quality heatsink for me which is compatable with all the specifications mentioned above?
Thanks! :)

What do you plan on doing with your computer? Overclocking?

What is the full specs of your motherboard and what is the price range you are looking for?

It is already overclocked to its maximum I believe, I purchased it a couple of years ago for a absurd price but it was state of the art for its time. Anything up to £30.

My previous heatsink was a 'Freezer pro 7 AC' and stood at around 6-7 inches which was the perfect height for my case

A couple of the same sized 92mm fan coolers:

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler £20

Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo CPU Cooler £20

Xigmatek Loki SD963 CPU Cooler £15

Xigmatek Loki should perform better than both the Hyper TX3 and your old AC Freezer 7 Pro

I've just read an article on the Cooler Master Hyper 212 and it is a fine candidate! I would like to see some others before I make my final decision

Can you explain why the Xigmatek will shine brighter than the Hyper TX3?
and what about the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler?

I would recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, that is offered in the United Kingdom store. See link below, this falls right at your price range. There are also other coolers that you can check out that fits your specifications. Good luck
