Heavy Graphics games fps drops

Hello everyone,
I got a little problem going on for a while now. after I got a new GPU, an Inno3D 570 GTX OC 780/1600/2000 (came with OC)
I've been experiencing FPS drops in games like Metro 2033, BF3, Crysis 2, GTA IV etc... games which require a high end to run smooth on high res on HIGH or VHIGH. even after lowering those to low, it have the same FPS drops...

the part where it drops completely is when I was loading, but you can see after that, it drops for a second to almost 0% usage of GPU.

My Specs:
CPU:AMD Phenom II X4 955 @3.6Ghz
GPU:Inno3D 570 GTX OC @780/1600/2000
PSU: FSP 700W 80GHN 120mm Satax2 PCI-E 4xRails A.PFC 80+ Bronze
MoBo: ASUS M5A87
RAM: GSkill 4GB DDR3 @1333Mhz

The thing about my GPU is that it's called Gamer pack... and I noticed something wierd that I didn't expect, it has 1x8Pin connector and 1x6pin connector unlike Nvidia's geforce 570 which has 2x6 pins...

and last thing, I saw that the card may need 38A and above on the 12V rail or something like that, which I dont have, my PSU has 18A only.

I dunno if this is the correct forum to ask, forgive me if its not, and I would like to repost it somewhere else if required.

Most likely your ddr3 ram, ddr3 is used for lower resolution's about 800x579, if your thinking of fixing this i suggest getting ddr5 ram it should help you with the lag, ddr5 helps with the higher resolutions in the midrange.

His card has gddr5 and theres no sucj thing as ddr5 yet for his system.

If your Amps on the rail are vastly under they would effect it but theres people here know more about that than me. Hopefully they can pip in.

Thanks you for your respond, I dont understand about AMPS and Voltage and that stuff, so anyone here knows how does it affects on the GPU's performance on heavy loads...

simlpist way to check is.


look at the stats for the graphics card

it will say how many amps.


then look at the side of your power supply it will say the total wattage and the amps availible on each rail


can you tell us the total wattage of your powersupply and the name


e.g. mine is a 750 watt ocz power supply


(if you take the case off the side of your pc there should be a sticker on the side of it that tells you)

About the Wattage you can see in the specs above... Ill check about the amps on the gpu's box and report back

I can see on my PSU that there are 12V1 12V2 12V3 12V4 each one is 18Amps, does it stay 18 or do I need to sum them, 18+18+18+18=72A?

Im starting to see, maybe i have no idea, this is abit over my head, im still in ITT Institute, Im starting to think your graphics card may be over heating, Also this maybe the stuipidest thing to say, but have you updated your drivers? Whats your graphic's card memory, Before i had my new computer i was useing a very old windows xp that seemed like it was in the stone age, it wasent updated, graphics sucked, every thing on it was useless, Any way i had massive fps drops with my windows xp due to either my graphics card, memory of ram, Hell even i couldent run CSS, So i think your gpu is over heating, What games are you haveing issues with?
