Hi to all!
I'm new to the community and I already need your opinion!
I'm thinking of building a new system as soon as windows 7 are out in the market. My major concern is what cpu and motherboard to have because I multi-task A LOT and I also do video file conversions whenever I can.
As I understand multi core cpus work in serial mode. (I have the notion that the second core takes over when the first is at 100% and so on)
While Hyper-threading manages to assign the cores to work in parallel (together) when needed multiplying the work done.
I 'm at a standstill wondering what path to follow. What cpu to choose and what motherboard to support it best.

Core i7's are the currently the fastest CPU's and are fantastic for multitasking but I'd recommend you take a look at this thread so you can ask more focused questions:
