Hello all,

first post on tomshardware but been an observer for the past few years. Anyhow, i’m searching for any suggestions on what I can upgrade within my build to get better performance in all around things such as office work, entertainment and FPS games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare (Warzone).

PC specs:

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS SABERTOOTH
MARK S
GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE 980 GTX
CPU: i7-4790k
RAM: HYPERX FURY DDR3 (32 GB)

I have had no major problems with this build for the past 4.5 years but would love to upgrade. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The GTX980 was a fine card, but, years later it's just slightly faster than the 3.5 year old GTX1060-6 GB, so, to play most modern games at great than 1080P, your GPU will need upgrading. (I'd look at an RX5600XT, as the RTX3060 won't be out for a month or two...)

At some point, a CPU/mainboard/RAM will certainly be needed, as 4c/8t systems will struggle ins ome games maintaining adequate minimum FPS as time rolls on...

ONly a few week to see comparisons of upcoming Ryzen 5600 and 5800X, with Intel's 10600K/10700K...any of those 4 would likely suffice another 4.5 years...

3-4k , looking for something that will last another 4 years.
3-4K USD is absolutely a whole new system, and probably 30- 50% more than you need to spend.
