Hi

I hope this is in the correct place!

Some background
  • I'm a bit out of touch with all the hoo-hah surrounding new GPUs, etc but i want to upgrade my gaming system.
  • I am aware some of my stuff is 6 years old, im also aware that I love my old GTX 1080 TI but i have to let go.... 😀
  • I am concerned that the chipset / socket of my mobo (LG1151?) is going out of date and is no longer supported or rather no longer supports good CPUs.
Further info as per guide

  • Approximate purchase date next 1-3 months.
  • Budget Range: 2000 - 2500 GBP
  • System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, editing photos, surfing web
  • Are you buying a monitor: No - current monitor is samsung 4k
  • Reason: I think I need a therefore may need a full on upgrade
  • Parts to Upgrade: CPU / MOBO / GPU / RAM / - I have a good 1500w PS
  • Do you need to buy OS:Yes
  • Location: UK
  • Parts Preferences: None
  • Overclocking: Possibly but not an expert
  • Multiple GPUs: No
  • Your Monitor Resolution: 4k
Requirements
  • I play all sorts of games and occaiosnally process some art but it's light work.
  • Predominantly i edit photos and play HLL, Squad 44, Total War etc.
  • I would like a PC that is in the region of £2000-£2500. I can go higher but prefer not to.
Further Qs
  • I dont have a preference on AMD v Nvidia - so im happy to hear both sides.
  • I wonder if this gaming Pc could be sold 'as a whole' to someone with a lower budget (minsu SSD etc).
  • Any furhter advice - ie "wait until X" or " do this now before X happens" welcome.
My system specs are:

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 9700K @ 3.60GHz 26 °C
Coffee Lake 14nm Technology
RAM
32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz (15-15-15-36)

What is the make, model and age of the PSU you wish to recycle? 6 years old?

Room for adding a reliably built 850W PSU. 2x SSD's to split your OS, app's and launchers install onto one while the other is your game library. be sure to add HDD's to the build to save your finalized productions.
^ this is a template, not set in stone.

Thanks Lutfij, thats i very comprehensive

So to the details i currently am runnng a Corsair RGB ICUE Liquid cooling system running on my MOBO - 3 years old.

In terms of GPU is that the best value at the moment? Seems like quite a chunk for a GPU! Open to options as i guess almost any will be an improvement.

ATX 3.1 psu, a board and gpu that support PCIe 5.0.
