Hello,i am new at building my own pc i bought few parts and not sure how it will work together i here is list of parts i already bought :GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard(not sure is it rev1 or 2) intel i7 930 processor ,venomous x (cpu cooler) i already ordered ddr3 1333ghz 24gb 6x4gb kit ( i contacted supplier for overclocking details and he said these ram are not designed for overclocking ) so my most important question is :if intel i7 930 processor run 800/1066 triple channel rams would it run 1333ghz and if it wouldn't can i overclock just processor and leave ram as it is or should i overclock both and would it be save to overclock processor to this speed ?thank you all in advance

Yes you can overclock the CPU and leave the RAM at or slightly below (underclock) the rated frequency. By slightly underclocking the RAM, you will not see any issues with the CPU overclock.

The guide I posted above explains it quite well.

Start the CPU overclocking by setting the RAM multiplier to its LOWEST value. Then do the CPU OC in gradual steps. Check CPU temps and voltages (refer to guide).

When you are done with the CPU OC and the CPU is stable, check the RAM frequency. If possible raise the RAM multiplier to the next higher value. Again check the RAM frequency at this new multiplier. Do this until the RAM frequency is at or slightly below the rated RAM frequency.

For your information, my i7-920 CPU is OCed and running at 3.82 GHz, and at this OC my 1600 RAM is running at 1,453 MHz (underclock). Works fine!
