Hey, first of all I’m pretty much a noob on displays and all that. Well, recently I was able to get my friends laptop for a cheap price which I’m going to get this week. However when I looked online at the input ports it seems to have one 1.4 hdmi, one mini display port, one usb 3 type-c (gen 1) port for display. However I want to connect it to a 144hz monitor and I’m not sure if it will work?
Please help, it’s a msi ge62vr 6rf laptop:

thanks in advance :)

Thank you! Does the computer input matter though as it is a 1.4 hdmi? Or could I use an adapter to go over to vga?

Is there budget option for that, would also an active adapter from HDMI to vga or d-dvi work for this if my laptop output is hdmi 1.4 and I put ex. VGA?
There are no adapters from HDMI to DVI or VGA that will support 1080p 144 Hz.

There are plenty of monitors that support 144 Hz over HDMI. AOC 24G2, C24G1, G2590FX, G2590PX, ViewSonic XG2401, XG2402, VX2458-mh, VX2458-c-mhd are a few decent options.
