Hi. I am pretty decent at building PCs for my friends and stuff but I'm on the other side. While they can splurge or RTX and stuff I had to be on more cheap side. Therefore i currently have this build.
CPU: i5-3470
MOBO: Foxconn 2abf
GPU:RX550 2 GB
Ram: 8gb of 1333mhz(?) ram

Now im trying it find a better gpu and im not 100% of what would match up well with this CPU. I thought a RX 570 or RX 580 would be good but then I'm wondering if this is true still with the new RX 5700 . Did that make anything cheaper or are there other cards i should look at?

Welcome to the forums my friend!

What would be your main usage? If gaming, what kind of games?
What resolution/refresh rate would be playing at?
What is your PSU make and model?
Thank You friend! I do gaming and video editing. Now I run on a 900p monitor but I make run at 1080p. not great but it works. I'll be getting a CXM i think from Corsair. This is my motherboard specs supposedly.

At 1080P/60hz and with that CPU I'd go up to a RX 580, that and a new PSU should be around the $250 mark. Make sure these parts will fit into your case.

Power Supply: SeaSonic EVO Edition 620 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($69.99 @ B&H)
Total: $239.98

Presumably if it is an interchangeable ATX, and that you're running at that resolution - I'd agree with WildCard that I wouldn't stretch further than an RX580 and a new PSU.

The CXM newer versions are decent enough, I'd probably opt for the CX over the Seasonic EVO IMO as the M12II doesn't have OCP, it was good for it's time, not as much anymore. But still comes with a 5 year warranty.
