hello im looking to upgrade my dell 2400 motherboard? i know i can use micro atx but can i use any?

If you use a new mobo, your OS, (IF original from the dell) is an OEM os & will not work with a new mobo. OEM's (Dell, HP etc) tie their OEM OS to the mobo. you would need to buy a new OS/License.
