Hello My Local disk ran out of space and I need to know to clear it

Hello my local disk ran out of space and I don't know how to clear it, I tried copying files to a external hard disk and deleting on the local but it said files will not function on shared users and I was afraid I might kill my pc. How do you clear a local disk?

What were you trying to delete?

I copied everything to my external terabyte disk and tried to delete everything on local but It warned me and I didn't.
