If it is a motherboard issue I would recommend replacing it with a motherboard compatible with your cpu ram and gpu. Unless you want to upgrade your computer there is no need to get/build a new one.
It could be your graphics card,
If you can access your bios it could be your gpu, if the bios is working check it and see if all the components are showing up and go from there

First you should probably make sure no plugs are unplugged.
If nothing is unplugged and it is still not working feel free to tell me your specs and I can see what I could recommend.

Yes I have checked and used other monitors/ mouses to check but nothing seems to work.

Motherboard - asus p6t se 1366
Processor - intel i7 @2.66ghZ 1366
Graphics card - nvidia 9800gtx+
Ram - ocz 6gb ddr3 1600mhz

Also looking for a solid state hard drive, I hear it's the best way to go, maybe 160gb.

Thanks in advance- josh

If I were in your situation I would go for this board http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-P8Z77-V-LX-Intel-Motherboard/dp/B007MKGF82/ref=sr_1_18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1383864722&sr=1-18&
Its a decent board that should last a long time, but check that this will work with your setup (from the specs you gave it seems fine to me)

As for getting a ssd, that is a good idea, I have a 120 gig one that has lasted about a year now and is amazingly fast. http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-2-5-Inch-SV300S37A-120G/dp/B00A1ZTZOG/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1383865252&sr=1-3& seems to be a good price if you are still looking to buy one.

Brilliant thanks for your advice, my only worry is that my processor is socket 1366 and the motherboard you have advised is 1155. Is that still compatable? Thanks

RMA your motherboard and buy a new one. It might be somewhat dead.

I am not sure, you are going to have to do some research on that, I'm not that experienced with Intel mobos sorry ):
