Hey all, I'm new to the tomshardware forums, but I've been reading here for the last few days trying to get some ideas for my new build. I have some previous PC-building experience, having built my last 2 systems with parts from Newegg. However -- I have not paid any attention, whatsoever, to advances in computer hardware in the last 4 years since I built my current system. I'm completely out of the loop on what's actually out there and what's good/bad. I have some ideas for what I want in a new system, so I'd like to ask other forum-going enthusiasts for some ideas on builds. I saw the thread "BestConfigs Poll - Budget Intel-Based Gaming PC" in the "New Build" section, but some of these systems don't meet my requirements and I'm having trouble modifying them to get there.
So what I'm asking is this: if anyone wants to take a stab and help me out -- try to configure a gaming rig in the $1000-$1200 range (preferably all parts from Newegg.com) that meets the following requirements:
I do not need a keyboard, mouse, monitor, DVD-drive, HDD, or speakers. I'd rather not have to deal with an add-on heatsink/cpu fan and the accompanying thermal paste if I can help it. It seems like it's a headache to apply, and it scares me a little.
Intel-based
CPU:Intel-i5 2500k
Video: Dual GeForce GTX 560 (I've always wanted an SLI/Crossfire System)
Memory: 16 GB (4x4GB) or 8GB (2x4GB) minimum
PSU: 750+ W
Windows 7
Case - Mid-ATX Tower
My main game played currently is Starcraft2, with various other current titles as I see fit. This machine needs to be able to run SC2 at ULTRA graphics settings at a 1680x1050 resolution, while streaming over the internet. Also, I'd like it to run Mass Effect 3 and Diablo 3 at high graphics settings when they are released later this year/next year.
