Help $1500 Gaming Rig, First Time Builder

Jul 14, 2009
BUDGET RANGE: $1500 is my max but if i can get for less then :D :D
PARTS NOT REQUIRED:I dont need a keyboard, mouse, or sound speakers
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I would love to use since ive purchased from them before but sites doesnt really matter.
PARTS PREFERENCES: I would to stick with an i7 build just for future compatibility reasons. I dont see me building another computer anytime soon, just upgrades so i figured i7 would be the way to go!
OVERCLOCKING: Yes, probably not right away but some time in the near future. Maybe on the cpu and gpu if needed.
MONITOR RESOLUTION: I plan on buying a new monitor with this build, so i will be using whichever resolution that is optimal for my gpu/monitor. Ive always played on sub-par machines so i have no experinece with resolutions higher than 1024 x 768 lmao
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I spend most time playing WoW but i also play CoD, LoTRO, Wolf: ET :??:, really any MMO that can capture my interest. I also have Crysis that i received from my bro as a gradution gift but i guess he didnt really my comp sucks lol. I would like the best bang for my buck computer i can get. This will be my very first build! I would like to say thankyou for any help that will be given, it will be much appreciated

SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail

I'm really unsure about this card, it seemed good at first until i read reviews about it crashing after a few weeks plus the main game i play is WoW and people have commented that the fps in-game is lower compared to other cards. This is one the category that i am most unsure on. I might change it to an 4870 x 2 setup like so many proclaim. PLEASE SCHOOL A NOOB!!!! Ive also contemplated running a dual monitor setup

I figured id go with Acer X233Hbid Black 23" 5ms Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail

CD Drive:
Figured id go with something simple like an Sony Optiarc DVD/CD Rewritable Drive Black SATA Model - OEM for now and maybe buy an blu ray drive l8ter down the road.

OS: Figured id just buy Vista 64-bit or Windows RC 7, im not to worried about this atm.

That current build comes to $1,268.91 not including OS or s&h.

Well that is all ive come up with so far, im open to all comments and tips! Everything said will be taken into consideration, no one will go unheard. Anything and Everything HELPS! Thankyou

get a 4850 and overclock it, put the money you saved from buying the 4870 towards a 5870, or just wait Two months for the 5870 to come out, however you may have to go for an i7 1156 build then, or your build will be cheaper because retailers will be clearing out their i7 1366 stock.
