Help - 2560 X 1080 ips Monitor 75hz- What input cables needed

I am looking to buy a LG 25um55 or LG 25um65 monitor today and am wondering what input I need to get the full benefit of the monitor. the 55 series has HDMI while the 65 has HDMI and DVI Dual link.

Both models have the above specs.

At present I only have a single link DVI cable.

Long trip into store so appreciate opinions.

It probably has hdmi 2.0 on the monitor, however do you have a hdmi 2.0 GPU? Because hdmi 2.0 is the only hdmi that is capable of pumping 2560 x 1080 at 75hz.

Or, easier option is to just buy a dual link DVI cable.

99% of monitors that are higher then 60hz usually come with a dual link dvi-d

Well unfortunately, this monitor is one of those 1% monitors that doesn't come with a dvi cable. I checked on LG.com and it only comes with a HDMI cable.

It looks like I will be getting a Dual Link cable and definetly the 65 series for the DVI input.

You saved my day as it's an 1 1/2 hrs each way to the purchase point.
