Help 3dmark 01 walkover

well ive just ran 3dmark01 and everyone has seemed to kick my ass, tbh i didnt think my system was that bad but obviously i am wrong, all my settings are standered vsync off, agp8 on, fastwrite enabled, all my drivers are upto date bios version is 1005 but still only score 13594, all background software was suspended for the test

You need new memory, you need to get PC3200 (DDR 400) for that prescott. Im not too sure how much that would help.. check your driver settings and make sure AA and AF are off.

right ive tweaked my bios a little and windows and my new score is 14467

orderd my new ram today so should be here wednesday or thursday only problem is its only going to be 512mb for the moment till fundings are a bit btr, i know ive droped 512mb but the ram im getting will be btr and hopefully will perform ok till i get the other 512

if you wanna be 100% sure that your system is running at its full capacity, i recommend formatting your hard drive and installing windows from fresh


then install all the newest drivers for your hardware, then install the programs you want. that score is low, but then again, a 2.8ghz Prescott isnt going to push that video card too high.. id say that 2.8prescott with PC2100 (intel chips love memory bandwidth) is probably about equal to a 2.6 P4 with DDR400 ram.. of course im just estimating, but clock for clock teh prescott is slower than the northwood

i done a format no longer then 2weeks ago, im gonna take some pics of my bios and post them on web see if ive fecked that up somehow i'll post url asap

btw, turn off Fast Writes. ATI cards dont like it at all



another thing: is your ran currently running in sync with your FSB? or is it where your FSB is at 200 (800), and your ram is at 133 (266)? because intel chips dont like that at all, to get the most performance the ram has to be in sync with the fsb

Allocate IRG for PCI NO

Your ram timings are set to SPD and AUTO


Set this to MANUAL or USER DEFINED.

Next lower the ram timings from say 3 to 2.5 or 2 and run some benchmarks, torture test, prime 95 etc. to see if it is stable. Try this with each setting. But one at a time and record your best results for each catergory (RAS,CAS.)

Now play arround with these until you get your best (LOWESR NUMBERS) settings that are stable for your memory.

You may need to increase the DRAM Voltage slightly to get stability at faster settings.

I aint signing nothing!!!
 
installed my new ram (twinmos 2x256mb pc3200) this morning and ive done a couple benchmarks but not to sure if my bios is set up right

i ran aida32 and it says the following
cas latency 2.5t ( i set this myself in bios)
ras to cas delay 4t (set on auto in bios)
ras precharge 4t (set on auto in bios)
ras active time 6t (set on auto in bios)

are these timings right?

thats sounds pretty darned good .....

2400+ points increase just for a ram increase in speed!

heh, my score is 8200 based on a amd athalon 1.3 ghz /9600 pro system :)

7990 with a non-overclocked graphics card.

(framerates in games don't improve but my raw power sure does --so i guess i'm cpu limited)

grrr.

So...i guess i will have to upgrade my pc2100 ram along with the cpu/motherboard upgrade i was hoping to get away with. 🙁 grr :)

theres mine so you can compare. our scores are almost identical. if anything, id say your score is better than mine, because my video card is overclocked and yours isnt

your aquamark score isnt published it set to private so i cant compare, and when i click ur 3dscore it seems to be comparing my score against my own

Right im fairly happy now with my results, im top for the exact search/compare with ppl who have not overclocked there graphics card :) i have an audigy 2 platinum and from what i can see thats holding a few points back, all settings are at standerd for it, so the question i am asking is: does anyone if/how can i set the sound card up to push out a few more fps hopefully with a few more tweaks here and there i want my goal to be 6k mark in 3dmark03 atm its 5890
