Just received my a gigabyte 4090 wind force and got it installed. Unfortunately after install this GPU is giving me a nightmare that I did not expect from such an expensive piece of hardware. When I power the pc on with a display port I am getting no image or anything at all. I tried using a HDMI cable and finally got the pc to post. Works great with hdmi played some games and working as designed. It’s super strange because when it does post with a hdmi cable it black screens for 5 minutes then comes on. I did some research and performed the UEFI firmware update with Nvidia but still having the same issue. Also I tried changing the mother board bios from the most current version to the prior with no change in issue. Tried re seating the card and even switch the bios on the card from oc to quite and nothing seems to be fixing this. Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

System specs
AMD 5800X3D processor
MSI x 570 a pro motherboard
16gb patriot viper ddr4 4200 ram
Gigabyte 4090 wind force
Windows 10
EVGA 850 power supply

I'm not sure as I've never worked with a 4090, but from this it looks like a lot of models need 1000 watts-1200 watts. It looks like one of the Gigabyte Aorus cards needs 1000. So could be your power supply isn't up to the job.
Thanks for the responses. This card is not a Aorus card. Also if it was a power supply issue I would believe I would run into failures test benching it. The card exceeds normal 4090 benchmark results. I am thinking it’s some sort of compatibility issue with the motherboard. Like the motherboard is not talking to the gpu. I watched a J 2 cents video where he was having the same issue but he never disclosed if there is a fix to this. In his video he plugged in a FE 4090 and worked as intended with the rig. I am leaning toward flashing a different V bios on the card. I tried flashing FE v bios but was not successful with the flash. A compatibility error popped up.

Might consider returning the card for a different model then. That's a 1600 dollar or more card. If they find you flashed it and something would happen to the card, warranty claims could get dicey. Might check to see if there's another system you can test it in to confirm. I suppose it's possible it's not compatible, but usually that type of thing is plug and play. You may see if your board has a newer bios update, as on my b350 board there's an update that says it's supposed to improve compatibility of 4000 series cards.

As far as I remember he had an ASUS card that did not work with MSI board but it worked with ASUS board. So my guess would be you are running into same problem.
I don't recommend flashing VBIOS. If trying other DP ports/cables/monitors does not work I'd suggest returning the card and getting different model.

SOLVED! It was my Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor that was the problem. For some reason after I did a reset on my monitor everything works fine with the DisplayPort. Not sure why a monitor would be able to pick up signal better from my 6900xt then a 4090 but all is good now!!!
