[SOLVED] Help: 760 gtx display drivers stopped responding but have recovered

Greetings,

my 980 ti died and I'm trying to use an older 760 gtx until I can replace it.
I've managed to get it fairly stable but, intermittently I get the above issue. The screen will go black for several seconds and then recover which, essentially, renders any kind of gaming impossible.
I'm hoping someone knows what causes this and what I might try to correct it.

umm try ddu ? and reinstall drivers or try couple of other driver versions ( my gtx 760 years ago sometimes did the same before it died completely)
