[SOLVED] Help a friend with a power supply

Hi guys!

My friends motherboard on his pre-built system (Y720 Cube-15ISH) is no longer working.

I want to know if I can put in a new ITX motherboard - of some other brand - in his PC to get it working again.

My biggest concern is the Power Supply, because I've learned that sometimes you can get a proprietary PSU to work with a consumers market motherboard.

This is the Power Supply in the system:

It says "24+6+4pin Power Supply" - will that work, if I buy a new Motherboard? Also - I can't see there's an 8-pin connector, will there be a 2-pin connecter to go along with the 6-pin for a GPU?

that is the new PSU standard, ATX12VO

you would need to get an ITX motherboard that uses it.

everything runs off the motherboard but I am not 100% sure how it all works as I haven't looked into it too hard.

they must have their own motherboards as there aren't many ATX12VO motherboards yet from what I can find - https://www.anandtech.com/show/1576...otherboard-the-asrock-z490-phantom-gaming-4sr

or just replace PSU s well. i wonder if there are any other proprietary plugs you will run into.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

I don't think it's the new PSU standard, considering it's from 2016/2017ish. Wouldn't a motherboard like this, support the PSU he has? I see it has a 4-pin connector on the motherboard and 24-pin:

i had this sneaking suspicion I was wrong, I was waiting for that.
It says "24+6+4pin Power Supply"
24 Pin, 4 Pin 12V, 6 Pin PCI Express
that looks like a very limited PSU

looks to me like it only has a 6 pin, its not designed for 8 pin GPU.

new PSU looks like better idea again.
