I've been having issues with my GeForce card not running stable D3D games with the new Detonator drivers under WinXP. I've done some searching and found that it's an issue with my VIA KT-133 chipset (one of many issues I've had with this chipset). I've tried different Detonator versions, newest 4in1 drivers for my chipset.. nothing helped prevent these crashes. So I decided to flash my BIOS from 1008 to 1009 and hope that would fix the problem. I rebooted into DOS and flashed my bios using aflash. After flashing my BIOS I got a message saying "Flashed Successfully". Then I got a message recommending me to turn off the power, enter SETUP and LOAD setup defaults to have CMOS updated with the new BIOS. So I rebooted the system and nothing happened! The power turns on and my cdroms light up but the screen stays blank! No beeps or anything. I've tried shorting the two solder points on my motherboard to reset my CMOS but that didn't seem to work. Is there anythign I can do to fix this problem or anywhere I can bring my motherboard to have this problem fixed? ANy info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jimmy

Most BIOS's have a fallprove function which will you boot from a floppy, which can be set to automatically reflash the BIOS (don't know how but this can somehow).
You said that you flashed your BIOS in DOS, but was this after closing windows and rebooting to DOS with the Start -Shutdown menu. Is so the BIOS is possible screwed.
If you flash your BIOS you will have to do this in DOS with NO autoexec.bat or config.sys loaded otherwise you could screw yor BIOS.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground 😱 .

from my experience when you kill your bios, they are dead forever unless you get a new board, or a new bios chip.
I'm curious did you boot into dos off of a disk? or straight out of windows?
And also were the bios and flash program on a floppy disk? or off of a hard drive? because I've heard flashing from a hard drive is a no no unless its from Windows with the special Asus bios flashing utility.
I have heard that some electronics stores can flash the bios chips if you bring in the files on a floppy disk, I'm not sure if you can pull off the chip from your motherboard, but if you can you might want to start calling your local Electronics stores and seeing if they do this.

Go to <A HREF="http://www.badflash.com" target="_new">http://www.badflash.com</A>
They can fix you up.I believe you can get a new
BIOS from ASUS for $25.00 US.That is what it
used to be, you will have to check it out.

Rock out with your AMD out

I booted into dos from a windows98 boot disk. Then I flashed my bios from my a: where aflash and my new bios update were both located.

try to unplug the cmos battery & reinsert it, here u are sure your bios is reset

try to unplug keyboard & gc, if there is no bip, your bios is crash

ok, buy nothing.

I fixed it!

I guess the first time I tried shorting out the two solder points on my motherboard to reset my cmos didn't work. I tried again and made sure I had shorted both out and it worked when I fired it up! THanks for the suggestions everyone.
