The Nvidia GTX750Ti will run with your PSU. Your computer is an Optiplex 755. . CPU list is here .

Popular choices are the Q9550-Q9650. Get the latest BIOS from Dell support. Find out if it's EUFI, or AHCI. then get a video card that's compatible. I see a lot of Opti 755s with E8600/E8400 CPUs, they're not listed but neither were the Quads named above, they are jut 1/2 of the same CPU so they should work also.

Be sure and get a GTX750 without the 6 pin PCIe connector (not needed) and single fan versions ( again unnecessary). If it's not over 6 3/4" long and single slot it will work even if it's wide. It can be longer if it's only 1 slot wide all the way to the...

It can be longer if it's only 1 slot wide all the way to the front. My 750Ti was $100 after rebate. Other options if really necessary would be GT740 2GB DDR5, or GT730 1GBDDR5. Don't get anything DDR3. But 750Ti is worth getting. then save up for CPU later. Faster dual core CPUs can be found under $20. sometimes $10-$12.

Solution
A 750 TI should have a 300W+ PSU

He has an obviously old 280W PSU.

Not exactly a good combination.

The GT 740 /730 are actually older cards on the Kepler arch, and require even more power in spite of being weaker cards.

Replacing both the PSU and GPU for $107 after rebates:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150682

This will give you a decent quality PSU of reasonable wattage and a much better GPU than you have now. (still a low level GPU but not bottom of the barrel)

If you find that too expensive, replace the GPU with this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133542&cm_re=gt_730-_-14-133-542-_-Product

It will be quite a bit weaker, but still quite a bit stronger than your current card.

Also, get a can of compressed air.

That computer needs to be blown out.

Dell PSUs are under rated by about 50W compared to advertised aftermarket PSUs. They provide enough power for all the slots and bays the computer comes with. The 730 DDR5 requires very little power. under 40W. I'm not sure about the740. The R7 250 is on the Hierarchy chart with the 8800,9800 GPUs, the 750Ti is 4 tiers up. It also has DDR3, basically it sucks. The Old Pentium 4 Dells came with 305W PSUs, for 130W CPUs, they went to 280W when they went to 90W CPUs. Alot of people are running Optiplexes with GTX750Ti, and Core2Quads, and later ones with 16GB ram. He could probably get a Dell 305W PSU for $10 at any computer junk yard.

The PSU is almost a decade old and a 280W would be borderline if it was new.

Also the R7 250 linked is the GDDR5 varriant, and exceeds the performance of a GT 740.

Basically, it doesn't suck.

Still an entry level card though.

Okay thanks guys rn im im debating if i should get gt 730 or 740 for now . i only play csgo and LoL mostly and im not planning on playing high fps games. my plan is if i can get a gpu on my current psu ill upgrade later on by upgrade i mean build a new pc.
