Question Help accessing files from a mac HDD

So my Mac Laptop died on me a while ago. I took the hard drive and put it into a Enclosure with a USB port on it. So I would like to see if I could get my music and pictures off. But when ever I get to where the music is I get a error message and it tells me I don't have the permissions to view the contents. I am running it on my Ubuntu machine and not too sure what to do now.

I dont have pesonal experience with that but have you tried acessing it on another mac eg yours or a friends machine.
Was the music bought on iTunes with an Apple ID? If so you can download it onto another apple product. If you have another macbook you could try putting the hdd in that. Otherwise you could take it to a computer shop and they can retrieve the files.
