Good day,

I have two hard drives in my computer, one has Win 7 installed, the other Win 10. While logged into Win 10 I attempted to copy my iTunes music folder from Win 7 to Win 10 but my User folder in Win 7 was unable to be accessed from the outside operating system. A message appeared that said something to the effect of... You do not have permission, press continue and you will have permission. I pressed continue but nothing happened.

Can anyone tell me how to set permissions so I can gain access to these, and other folders that might be blocked, from outside of the Win 7 operating system?

By the way, I was able to log into Win 7 and access the User folders of Win 10 by pressing 'continue' on the message box, and transferred my music, but am still interested in the answer to my above question so I do not have to do that any time I might need a file from the other hard drive.

Thank you

Taking ownership of a file or folder is done basically the same on Windows 10 as in earlier Windows versions:
