Hi there,

so I am planing to upgrade my current PC (GTX670, 3570K @ 4,3 if anyone cares). My budget is 2000€ more or less. This is the built I plan to get right now:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (€337.22 @ Amazon Deutschland)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler (€73.94 @ Mindfactory)
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (€205.00 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory (€133.84 @ Mindfactory)
Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (€176.65 @ Mindfactory)
Storage: Western Digital Red 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (€115.51 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 (€799.00 @ Alternate.de)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For €0.00)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (€170.79 @ Mindfactory)
Total: €2011.95

However there are a couple of things I am not quite sure I'm happy with. I plan to overclock, though only slighty. (For example my 3570K@3,4Ghz runs at 4,3) I am frankly too scared to play with Voltage and stuff like that. Thus my main questions are:
- Is the RAM any good? (I went for 32GB because if I don't get a Mac, I prefer 32 for video editing)
- Is the motherboard good or do I want something else? Maybe a Z170somethingsomething? (I've been looking at Z170 Pro.
- Any other suggestions?

the mobo is a huge beast, though I don't see the reason for its need. here are some edits:

its cheaper too, so you can use that to get a x99 platform if you wish.

Would you mind explaining your changes? I could learn some things this way. :)
And what would the benefits be to go for the x99 platform?

The CPU cooler really doesn't matter, the dark rock might be quieter, but doesn't look as well. Also the wd red isn't that great. Get barracuda for higher storage for cheaper. Also the SSD, you can the the premier and it is just as good as the more expensive ones and perform just the same. A lot on your list can be saved by just going with cheaper but just as good components. The PSU is not required to be that much either. Since your case doesnot have a window, you don't need a modular PSU and you can get a bronze PSU, still high quality and just as good. You want to look at the tier list for guidance. And do way do you need such an expensive mobo unless you really want it.and since skylake doesn't support quad channel memory, and 4 sticks wil pit extra stress on the memory cmntoeller mc. Dual channel wil work better with 2x16. X99 chips do support quad channel. As of the m.2, you don't need it unless you are very tight on speed and would rather put so much more money for a little speed..

Really it all comes down to bang for buck and personal needs.

X99 with the eh i7 5820k or even 5930k will give you more cores and better multithreaded performance, and increase in streaming capabilities, but will cost more money for power. And the 5930k has 40 lanes, giving better SLI. You want a 750w for 1080sli. And x99 also supports quad channel

So I changed some things, and this is what I will get. I am quite happy with it. I opt for the Seasonic 660 because I always had Seasonic PSUs and never any problems. I also prefer Platinum for several reasons. And I really want the M.2.
I am quite happy now. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help!
