Help after Hard Disk crash

After a recent death in the family (my hard drive) I am slowly recovering everything after discovering that my Take 2 generated backup was faulty. I can get at most of the old stuff but don`t know where to go to retrieve my address book and old emails from OE, also my favourites from IE.
I know this may seem very obvious to most of you but I am very new to Windows as a computing platform, so any help offered would be gratefully accepted.
