Hi all, i recently upgraded my PC to an XP3200+ 64 and the overall installation/setup went smooth BUT i cant get my 9700 running properly at all. Its defaulted as an un-known device and is using standard vga drivers (so at least i can get into my computer!)

But when i install the drivers (i have tried 4.11, 4.8 and 4.7) the same thing keeps happening - the install goes smooth the comp wants to reboot, upon re-boot, just after the xp splash screen it takes me to the windows is shutting down screen and just sits there and there are graphical glitches - if i leave that for long enough it goes to a DOS screen saying that the driver was in an infinite loop or something. If i reboot again i have to choose 'use last known setting that worked' to get back into windows, but then i am back at square 1! I dont know what i am doing wrong?

Any help would be great! Thanks guys!

Update your motherboard's BIOS and make sure you've got the latest chipset drivers installed.

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

Try doing this. Load the agp drivers. Go to device manager, and remove the display adapter. Reboot. XP should recognize you card and load the driver. Go to the Windows update site, and get the latest M$ supported drivers.
By the way, if you are running service pack 2, get rid of it.

Awsome, thats a geat idea i will try this ASAP, I hope it works because it seems all else is as it should be ie: latest mb drivers/bios, all that stuff...

Thanks
