Hi,

I have a new Dell laptop and pretty much every time it goes to sleep it crashes with error code 0x9f

I have done all WIndows updates, driver updates and BIOS update, this seems to be a fairly common problem with Dell laptops

I have 5 minidump files I can upload somewhere if needed

I have analysed the dump file with Windbg and it gives the following output but I don't really know what to make from it

Thanks

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f)

A driver has failed to complete a power IRP within a specific time.

Arguments:

Arg1: 0000000000000005, The device failed to complete a directed power transition within the required

amount of time.

Arg2: ffff830fb8d60dd0, Physical Device Object of the stack

Arg3: ffff830fb8fb4010, The POP_FX_DEVICE object

Arg4: 0000000000000000, nt!TRIAGE_9F_DIRECTED_TRANSITION on Win11 SV2 and higher.

I have a new Dell laptop
Please include the model and SKU to your laptop.

I have done all WIndows updates, driver updates and BIOS update, this seems to be a fairly common problem with Dell laptops
Have you tried reinstalling the OS after creating your bootable USB installer, then installing the OS in offline mode, then installing all necessary drivers with the latest version in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?

I have 5 minidump files I can upload somewhere if needed
Host them on a site like DropBox or their ilk and the pass on the link for us to go through.

Uninstall Norton Security, it will have come with the laptop and it's a crock. One of the dumps ( 112724-12718-01.dmp) fails because of a Norton driver ( nllVmm.sys). The others are power transition problems and are very likely caused by Norton as well. IMO it is little more than junk. Winders Defender and Windows Firewall are all you need.

Its my wifes laptop and its not here right now but I'm 99% sure I removed any Norton or McAfee crap that came pre installed but will double check tomorrow.
I'll give the Norton removal tool a go as well and let you know.

Thanks

It turns out it had McAfee on it when new which has been removed and she then installed Norton without me knowing, no idea why she did that.

I've ran teh removal tools so will see how it goes now

Thanks
